Wrestling Australia are proud to present the 2023 Senior National Wrestling Championships taking place on Saturday the 3rd of June 2023 at the Lang Park PCYC, Queensland.

The 2023 Senior National Wrestling Championships is an OPEN competition, Australia Citizenship is not required.

SELECTION EVENT- OCEANIA CHAMPIONSHIPS 

The 2023 Senior National Championships is being used as a selection event for the 2023 Oceania Championships for the following ages categories:

U17 Male and Female Freestyle 

U20 Male and Female Freestyle 

Senior Male and Female Freestyle 

Senior Male Greco-Roman

2023 World Championships

The 2023 Senior National Championships is part of the selection process for the U17, U20, U23, Senior and  Veteran World Championships.

2024 Olympic Games 

The 2023 Senior National Championships is being used as part of the Selection Criteria for the 2024 Olympic Games.  All athletes wishing to attend Olympic Games Qualification Tournaments MUST compete at the 2023 Senior National Championships in their nominated weight class.

Categories

Wrestlers (or an adult their behalf where the wrestler is a < 18 yrs old) must register online.

A Wrestling Australia member ID must be added at the point of registration.

• The following age divisions will be conducted at the competition:

• Male and Female U17 (16-17 years, from 15 with parental and medical certificate)

• Male and Female U20 (18 and 19, from 17 with parental and medical certificate)

• Male and Female Senior Freestyle  (20 years and older)

•Male Greco-Roman Senior 

•Male and Female Veterans Freestyle (35 years and older)

•Male Greco-Roman Veterans  

Age submissions are to be based on the Year of Birth (i.e., turning the denoted age in this calendar year), and not the age at the time of the competition.

Applications to compete in a higher age class must be submitted to [email protected] prior to the registration deadline.

WEIGHT CATEGORIES 

Wrestlers must weigh in exactly on or under their nominated category weight. No weight tolerance is allowed.

Please ensure that you enter the correct weight categories when you register for the competition.  No shifting of category or late entry will be considered on the day of the competition. If a wrestler does not make weight he/she will forfeit their matches and will only be allowed exhibition matches if and when available.

• No weight changes are permitted after the registration deadline.

SPORTS AUSTRALIA EDUATIONS REQUIREMENTS- SENIOR ATHLETES

All Australian athletes that are competing in the Senior Age Category must compete the following Sports Integrity Australia On-Line Courses:

SCHEDULE 

Weight in for all categories: 7.30am - 8.00am

Competitions starts: 9.30am

IDENTIFICATION 

All participants are required to bring of age to the event to be presented at weigh in.

UNIFORM REQUIREMENTS 

Wrestlers may wear, other than the standard wrestling singlet, a two-piece outfit as follows:

Tops of close-fitting elastic material that extends to the waist. Allowable items of clothing include rashguards, grappling shorts and bike shorts.

Short-sleeved or sleeveless shirt, predominantly in red or blue colour. A wrestler must bring one of each colour.

The shirt or top must be tight fitting.

For females, the shirt must completely cover the breasts at all times.

If a head covering is worn it should be firm fitting with no metal fixings.

Clothing may not have metal components, zips or buttons.

Open pockets are not permitted.

Drawstrings must be concealed at all times

Clothing must not have wording or design that is offensive or inappropriate.

Underwear must not contain hard plastic or metal components.

Wrestling boots must be worn

All wrestlers must wear a singlet or the alternative uniform option for weigh in.

SPECTATOR ENTRY FEES

Spectator entry fees can be paid at the door. Payment to be made with Eftpos/Credit Card only.

18+ Adult single entry ($10)

Family Pass - 2 adults and children under 18 ($25)

COMPETITION RULES and Conditions of Entry:

  1. All wrestlers are only eligible to compete if they are a member of a Constituent Association, irrespective of whether their relevant Wrestling Club is a member of a Constituent Association of Wrestling Australia Ltd
  2. All competitors are required to be a financial member of their State Association AND Wrestling Australia Ltd.
  3. All competitors are responsible for their own medical and physical fitness to wrestle and understand that the nature of the sport of wrestling involves some physical risks that can result in serious injury or death. It is the competitor’s responsibility to ensure they are free of skin lesions or allergies and are fit to compete.
  4. Competition will be conducted in accordance with UWW Rules; draw will use a modified pairing system.
  5. All competitors must make weight within these categories.
  6. No weight changes are permitted after the registration deadline.
  7. All competitors must wear a wrestling singlet or the alternative uniform option for weigh in.
  8. Proof of Age, satisfactory to Wrestling Australia Ltd., is required for all competitors. (Copy of Original Birth Certificate or Passport is required with entry form).
  9. Special consideration will be given for entries wishing to compete in a higher age categories.

The organisers will have the sole discretionary decision.

  1. I agree to abide by the Wrestling Australia Constitution, Code of Behaviour and Anti-Doping Policy.
  2. I agree to abide by the Wrestling Australia National Integrity Framework during this competition.
  3.  All coaches must abide by the WAL Code of Conduct.
  4. I have read and understood the “Competition Rules and Conditions of Entry” and confirm that in consideration of acceptance, by Wrestling Australia, of this my application to enter this event, I intend to be legally bound hereby for myself, my heirs, executors, administrators and any such persons, to waive and release the organizers, the committee of Wrestling Australia, their agents, members and any bodies or individuals having any association with this championship from any and all claims or rights to damages for injuries or losses suffered by me directly or indirectly in training for, traveling to or from, competing in or attending these Championship.
  5. Wrestling Australia needs to promote itself to the community at large, just like any other organization. I thereby authorise Wrestling Australia, and any person authorised by them, to reproduce, publish, broadcast or do any of the acts comprised in the copyright subsisting in: Photographic picture, Videotapes (with or without sound), Production stills and Voice recording.
